Using machines to make paper coffee cups requires a complete process: "Pre-production-core processing-quality checks-finished packaging." The whole production process relies on automatic equipment to achieve accurate and efficient production. The specific steps are as follows:
1.Pre-production Preparation
Raw Material Preparation and Inspection
Paper: Choose food-grade coated paper ( (typically 280-340g/m2). weight deviation (± 3%), thickness tolerance (±0.02mm) and whiteness (at least 80%) were examined. Ensure that there are no stains or damage and that hygiene indicators (heavy metals, fluorescent residues, etc.) comply with food packaging standards.
Laminating/ external material: Verify uniformity of thickness (0.02-0.05 mm) and melting point of inner polyethylene films (or biodegradable films) for thermal pressure. Ensure that food-grade glue sets in 1-3 seconds at 180-200°C and meets the required bonding requirements. Pre-treatment (if necessary): If paper cups require to be printed, they should first be printed using a food-grade water-based flexo printing press. After printing, dry in the dryer before further processing.
Debug and inspect equipment
Mechanical inspection: Calibration of feed rollers, molds and inserts to ensure no burrs, uniform feed gap, the hot press platens parallelism ≤ 0.1 mm. Check whether the feed belt is loose, the tool is sharp and there are no scratches.
System Commissioning: Connect stable power supply, testing circuits and sensor (paper position, temperature and pressure sensors) to ensure accurate signal transmission. Adjust the air pressure system to ensure that the air pressure is stable at 0.6-0.8MPa and the the pneumatic components operate sensitively.
Parameter Setting: Paper length, thermal pressure temperature (140-180°C), pressure (0.5-2MPa) and production speed are entered on PLC touch screens according to cup specifications (capacity, height and diameter). Parameters can be stored and retrieved with a single click. Core processing
Paper Feeding and Cut
Feed: The roller is stable with tension controller (30-50m/min) and is equipped with precision guide roller to prevent deviation or stretching.
Die Cutting Machine: A high-speed press cuts paper into fan cups (rolled cylindrical) and cup bases (with mosaic edges). Cutting dosage ≤ 1mm, paper scraps automatically removed.
Diversion mode: two kinds of blank are transported to body and cup base forming station respectively through intelligent conveyor belts. Sensors monitor in real time to prevent material jamming.
Cup Body Forming and sealing;
Curl molding: vacuum suction cup body rough molding. A servo motor drives the die to squeeze and roll into a cylindrical shape. Weld alignment deviation ≤ 0.5mm.
Seal: Ultrasonic sealing (or hot press sealing). High frequency vibration fusion polyethylene film welding, eliminate the risk of carbonization, ensure sealing. Initial Cutting: The sealing long cylinder is cut to a predetermined height to complete the initial cutting of the cup rim.
Cup Base Forming and Assembly
Mug stamping: The rough end of a cup is pressed under pressure of 5-10 MPa to create an edge shape suitable for the grooves in the bottom of the cup.
Heat Curing: The stamping cup base is briefly heated (at the same temperature as the heat seal) to solidify the PE film and prevent deformation.
Precision Assembly: The robotic arm turns the cup upside down and inserts the base from below. Once the sensor is confirmed in place, the thermopressure ring applies pressure and heat (holding pressure for 1-2 seconds) to fuse the cup and substrate PE membrane. Then tighten the seal with a roller.
Cooling and curing: Assembled cups enter the air cooling channel and are quickly cooled to room temperature to stabilize the cup structure.
Cup Rim Finishing
Curl: A rotating curling mould curls the rim of the cup rim inward or outward to remove sharp burrs and prevent lip scratches. Curl smoothness tolerance ≤ 0.3mm.
III. Quality Inspection and screening
Online detection: The AI vision inspection system captures more than 200 images per second, automatically detects cup damage, seam defects, floor leaks and rim flatness, and identifies defective products in real time.
Automatic Rejection and traceability: The robotic arm accurately rejects defective products. The system records batches and causes (temperature deviation, mold wear, etc.). Connecting to MES facilitates with process optimization.
4. Sampling Re-inspection: 10 to20 paper cups per batch for leakage testing (fill with water and stand for 5 to10 minutes) and compressive strength tests. Health indicators are regularly inspected.
IV. INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION Packaging and finishing
Counting and stacking: Qualified paper cups are sent to a collection point, where a robotic arm counts them automatically (error ≤ 1 + 100 cups) and piles them neatly in predetermined quantities (e.g., 50 cups per stack).
Automated packaging: the integration of online packaging machines to achieve mold-disinfection-packaging seamless docking. Use ultraviolet or ozone disinfection when packaging to ensure hygiene. Warehousing integration: the finished packaging (specification, production date, lot number), through conveyor to the smart warehouse. The MES system updates inventory data to support first-in, first-out management.
V. Post-Operation Precautions
OFF THE EQUIPMENT: Turn off the feeder first, then disconnect the power supply to avoid sudden shutoffs and component damage.
Cleaning and maintenance: cleaning the interior and exterior surfaces of the machine, removing any remaining paper scraps and dirt, and inspecting and maintaining lubricated components to extend the service life of the equipment.
Safety regulations state that operators must wear work clothes and face masks. Hands or objects are prohibited from entering the device. Unauthorized parameter changes or fixes are prohibited.
